Project management software is an
application that help to manage, organize, prioritize, scheduling and estimate
the plan of the task or project. It aims to help on improving our decision making
especially focus mainly on the task or project that we have set. Without
project management software, people today would be less thorough, less
efficient to get things done, lost objective tracking and many others. Thus, we
cannot imagine life without project management software. On the other hand,
there are many types of project management software that are available nowadays,
so here are some of the potential project management software which briefly
described below:
1. Clarizen
Clarizen is the leader in enterprise
work collaboration and projects management solutions which control the power of
the cloud to get work done efficiently, effectively and with better results. Ideally,
it is an online project management tool that allows consumers to manage
everything in business by letting people manage their time, budget, projects
and clients or employees (JULIA, 2014). Easy to use
and fast to organize, Clarizen would be able to redefine enterprise
collaboration by connecting social context with tasks and projects in order to
increase productivity and profitability. More importantly, it is free and users
do not require a business card to use it either so it is so simple to use. All
in all, it provides all project management and collaboration tools that
consumer need while requiring none of the IT resources. It works across
platforms, languages and currencies.
2. Mavenlink
Mavenlink is a web-based project
collaboration and management software that offers people a way to streamline
work flow and increase productivity. It is a growth management software company
which specialize in advanced project management for professional businesses (Titterington, 2013). Significantly,
platform of Mavenlink provides an online workspace for clients to conduct
business and collaborate in real-time which will result in improving
productivity, efficiency and profitability. Moreover, it has numerous
well-designed features for collaboration, file sharing, project management, and
team management especially build in to help the user to go beyond by just
managing project instead of starting to manage the business. Surely enough, it
aims to be the primary online workplace for all different kind of companies to
do business along with each other. Unlike similar programs which tend to target
larger enterprises, Mavenlink was founded specifically to provide quality,
cost-effective project management solution to all types of businesses.
3. Wrike
Wrike is a full feature and easy to use
project management system that is reliable enough for thousands of located and
distributed teams for project planning, tracking and online collaboration. Equally
important, it lets people take most of the features on the road with them, and
in the test it already proved to be very effective in term of dealing with the
complexity of multiple projects (Patkar, 2013). Collaborating
within single friendly and flexible system helps to keep everyone up to date
with the work progress. Hence, it is a perfect choice for project management
since it can save our time, get more things done in a specific date remarkably minimizes
the load of administrative tasks and help to focus on what's important. More
than that, Wrike is a project management software solution which made up with
an interactive Gantt chart so it is capable to visualize the plan and allows us
to easily update in real time.
4. Microsoft project
Microsoft Project offers tools for
more efficient project management. It helps to plan projects and collaborate
with others from virtually anywhere. Precisely, it makes our task stay
organized and keep our projects on the right track with the only project management
system designed to work seamlessly with other Microsoft applications and cloud
services. Likewise, Microsoft project gives a powerful new step to manage
important projects in an effective way. What make it special is it can unlock
easy collaboration capabilities to quickly start and deliver winning projects
while leveraging the power of Office 365 or SharePoint to work from anywhere (Rouse, 2011). Apparently,
the main modules of Microsoft Project include project work and project teams,
schedules and finances. Microsoft Project allows users to set a realistic goal
for project teams and customers by creating schedules, distributing resources
and managing budgets. It can be used in a variety of industries including
manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, government, financial services health care and
many others.
5. Basecamp
Basecamp is an excellent online
software package that makes project management and collaboration easy. Accordingly,
the entire Basecamp system is accessed and managed online, therefore, none of
the software or data is actually stored on the computer (Miller, 2014). Strictly
speaking, it is really easy to set up projects in Basecamp since the screen is
designed to look like a sheet of paper, and it is almost as easy to set up a
project as it is to write a note. Basecamp helps us to manage multiple projects
at a time with to-do lists, file sharing, chatting, messages, calendars and
time tracking. Alternatively, Basecamp can define in two main keywords
including simple and good looking. By simple, it really takes only 10 minutes
for anybody to use Basecamp fully. So it seems like people sat down and created
something that anybody could use. Another point is good looking so user of
Basecamp interface isn't just good but the user interface is fantastic to look
at, fantastic to use, fast, responsive, and fantastically logical.
6. Smartsheet
Smartsheet is an online collaborative
work platform used by individuals and companies of all size to manage projects
and get work done from any of their device or browser. It is familiar and easy
to use spreadsheet-like interface, coupled with file sharing, Gantt charts, and
work automation features which help Smartsheet grow quickly into a favorite
business application for productivity (McCue, 2009). As a matter
of fact, it's used to manage diverse types of work which include projects,
programs and core business operations. Smartsheet is also integrated with leading
web services such as Google Apps, Box, Dropbox, and Salesforce. As web-based
applications promise to make it easier and more affordable for small business
owners to get things done. By all means, Smartsheet may have cracked the code
on how to get more done with its online project collaboration service.
In conclusion, we cannot guarantee or
say for sure that which one is better than any others since many types of
project management software are built specifically according to its main target
or function so user might choose upon their needs and desires. User might also
use it in different purpose as well as we know that most of the software might
offer more than one feature or function. Again, each and every project
management software are pivotal in every aspect of our life based on the way we
use and implement it.
